Neil McKenna DPT, FAAOMPT, OCS is a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. He has more than 16 years of clinical practice since graduating from the #1 ranked University of Southern California Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Dr. McKenna began his practice at the prestigious Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago where he worked with a world-class team of healthcare professionals. After moving to San Diego, he served as an instructor at Chapman University for five years. He opened his successful private practice, Elevate Physical Therapy and Wellness, in 2010.
Years of experience have taught Dr. McKenna that the majority of pain syndromes originate from faulty movement patterns. These are often the result of physical trauma, repeated strain, or dysfunctional movement strategies. Dr. McKenna believes that customized treatment is necessary to meet each patient’s unique needs.
State-of-the-Art technology, such as 3D motion analysis and dynamic ultrasound imaging assists in the evaluation and treatment of these impairments. The Center for Movement Dysfunction was named to directly reflect Dr. McKenna’s specialization in the accurate assessment and treatment of dysfunctional movement.
When not treating his patients, Dr. McKenna cherishes time with his family. His wife, and college sweetheart, Wendi McKenna is a pediatric physical therapist who runs two companies, Strides Physical Therapy and Move Play Grow. When not relaxing at home with their three amazing children and a rather large Rhodesian Ridgeback, they can be found on the soccer field, baseball diamond, or basketball court coaching their kids. When not on the sports field, the McKenna’s enjoy outdoor activities as a family.
Dr. McKenna also enjoys functional lifting, running, cycling, and golf.
